“Nobody can tell the depth of another person’s religious belief, everybody is a screwup, that’s a given and that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a deep belief and struggle to live it.
I really think some kind of test of belief, piety, practice, orthodoxy, and affiliation is inappropriate, arrogant and ultimately blasphemous.”
Agreed. (‘cept for the ‘screw up’ part, cause I’m perfect. ; ) )
but you are right. I make a point about
the President omitting basic words from
our Declaration of Independence and
somehow it morphs into a discussion on
how the “Religious Right” has no tolerance
for alternative methods of exhibiting faith.
In the end, those who disagree with me are
holding the President up as the very
staunch religious individual who they so
vehemently oppose.
curious how our discussions on the OT
are a sort of mental mobius strip.
“Ma nishtana?”
I looked it up in urban dictionary.
No definition 🙁
“”but my preference is nut-free.”
So you’re back on Team Hetero??”
As Peter Paul said, “Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t.”
Biff, CGar defined for me last time that “nut-free” means post castration
“Ma nishtana?”
Exactly!!!
Off topic:
jester, does your political journalist friend have a Spanish last name by any chance? May be familiar with some of their work if so…

Me: I really think some kind of test of belief, piety, practice, orthodoxy, and affiliation is inappropriate, arrogant and ultimately blasphemous.
I said the above in the context of the political, (i.e. separation of church and state). But it is all wrong from a religious perspective as well.
lechacal,
lol, hey I’m having fun here 😉
