It seems the discussion about religion and intellectuals has put a damper on the adult circumcision/foreskin talk. Ordinarily that never would happen
dont blame me, i TRIED to sway the conversation best i could.
uh, montrose? there is no “E” at the end of Kool Aid. that is the first time i have EVER corrected someones spelling on the internet. For some reason I could not let that slip by unnoticed.
And I say to the self-identified intellectual whose life consists of advancing literary criticism on teeny tiny step forward, judging those who do not share the same values and generally marching in lockstep with other members of the self-identified intellectual class: Nicolas Copernicus shattered almost everything we thought we knew about the universe. What have you done lately? Does your contempt for belief in God make you smarter than he was? Or does it just help you fit in at dinner parties?
“stop trying to defend the man’s religion.
one can clearly see he is not a religious person.
you speak of the hypocrisy,
that’s what I’m pointing out.
He wouldn’t have been elected if his true
beliefs on religion were revealed.”
Legion, I don’t see how “one” can clearly see anything here, except that the right doesn’t believe anything Obama said about anything. How the hell do you presume to know what his true beliefs on religion are? He’s said what he believes in plain English often enough. You choose not to believe him. That’s YOUR problem, not his.
For an educated, intelligent guy, you have surely drunk the right wing koolaide. Statements like that are absolutely ridiculous. Now you are presuming to have the abillity to go into someone’s mind and pull out their true beliefs?
Thanks, ditto. They just both seem like very difficult metrics to measure with any degree of completeness.
(I’m a Christian who is also interested in social science. I think these kinds of studies – although unlikely this one – can be valid if they are done well and correlate factors that are readily measurable).
Presume they used IQ for ‘intelligence’, although that is open to debate as well.

SQOTD:
If Superman is so smart, why does he wear his underpants over his trousers?
“Let me know if this helps. I can unpack it more if needed.”
Lech, that line may come in handy (no pun intended) for your procedure on Thursday.
“Thanks for your brilliance Lech, I know how busy you at work.”
Re-write: “Thanks for your brilliance Lech, I know how busy you are doing g*d’s work.” LOL!
