My senior year in undergrad I took a class on social interactions in the workplace. The professor, a white woman, gave a speech at the start of class about her background and why she taught the class. The last thing she said to us was that the wrongs of our past will continure to trouble us until the majority (white men specifically) acknowledges there is a problem and actively participate in bringing about change.

That sums up college in the 90s pretty well!

rob – whatever you do – don’t walk by the corner of N3rd and Wythe. There’s this new place which is best described as a “fancy french bodega” you’d probably piss yourself and fly into a rage.

lol. i plan on not looking at anyone in the area or at any stores, i plan to keep my head down the whole time until i get inside.

    1. I head butt any would-be assailants where it hurts most.

    B. It is no longer true that I would crush Biff. You haven’t seen me since I lost 30+ pounds.

  4. He’s not the only one who feels that, gem. You’ll find many who do. I don’t use the term “African American”. It annoys me. I’m black. I hate looking at “African American” next to black when I check the box. I’m not African.

  5. I would gladly be in favor of reperations if…we could get rid of affirmative action.
Reperations can be justified as paying for and correcting, once and for all, a past injustice.
Affirmative action is just discrimination dressed up for the politics of the day.
If someone, especially a young person, needs help, society/government can and should help them to help themselves. But not on the basis of race, sex, or any other distinction without a difference.

Local bicycling blog The Guardrail NYC is demanding an apology from the NYC DOT, because—according to the blog—”The NYCDOT Calls Cyclists Jerks in Email!”
