“having a baby = Best thing that’s ever happened in my life. So much joy. I want another one.”
So it’s one of those, “can’t really explain it, but you should probably do it” kind of things. It’s very interesting to hear your take, as a fellow tough-cookie.
“WHAT??????? Every kid’s lunch has to bwe screened because ONE has an allergy??? That’s fucking ridiculous.”
Legion, I was just about to post what Dave posted. Ridiculous!!! I want my PB&J, and I would want my kid to have their PB&J, and if there’s a kid with nut allergies, while I’m sympathetic and don’t want the kid to have a reaction, why on earth would that kid be in my kid’s Brady Bunch lunchbox or anywhere near my kid’s sammich???
DIBS — i imagine it’s an insurance issue. There are kids with nut allergies and then there are a few kids with severe nut allergies (like, go to the hospital and spend days on a respirator kinds of allergies). Some schools and preschools, particularly lower age, impose severe restrictions because it is too hard to police no-sharing to the point of 100%. I believe insurers demand this level of caution as part of general liability.
Japanese people DO NOT call white people “mayonnaise.”

you can go into anaphylactic shock just from being in the same room as a nut

I feel so bad for kids these days. They’re sanitized to the extreme and their little systems go bonkers over everything.

Rob, a quarter of a million is a little high. Would you do anythin for $2.50?

Have they ascertained how damgerous this kid’s allergy is??? 99% don’t go into shock when they are in the same room.
I’m sure the parents whipped this up into a frenzy far beyond what it is.
