“Forget foing green – Earth doesn’t care”.
Interesting cheerful read on that subject. Basic argument: we’re f’ed anyway because population growth is unsustainable. Other ‘green’ measures are a drop in the ocean compared to population and thus probably a waste of time.
Don’t know if I agree (not a scientist) but I would have a lot more sympathy with the green movement if its proponents explained their ideas more in terms of cost / benefit.
Hello Plusas. It was a stunningly beautiful weekend. Lechacal, people can relate to your shitstorm day because that’s the way it goes sometimes. Good you got checked out. Better yet, you could laugh about it at the end of the day.
DH, if you are serious about exploring the artisanal food idea, please email me at donatellaoffortgreene at hotmail dot come. I would like to tell you something about what my friend is doing – the jerky guy.
“Was this “absolutely neccessary, need it over the holiday weekend” work”
Unfortunately, I had this same BS this weekend. Very, very annoying. Most people I work with are realistic about deadlines and don’t give you an artificial deadline or drag you into a firedrill unless they really have to, but not this weekend unfortch.
DH, BH and I biked over to your ‘hood on Saturday. Realized once we were there that I should have asked you for recs on where to eat. Ended up at some frenchie bistro place eating decent panni sandwiches, and then tried Van Leeuwen’s $10 a scoop ice cream (not really, Rob). Walked around and enjoyed the people watching/fashion show. We were very nearly the oldest people around, it seemed! OY.
Beautiful, beautiful weekend–reminded me a lot of September 2001 and the incongruity of that day and days afterward–bright blue skies, comfy temps, the horror, and that smell…
cool cobble – you remember what it was called? sounds like a fun afternoon – saturday was really nice!
“planning to bash the greentards again later today.”

“The V never ran on the weekend. The M never ran past where it meets the J. You guys just aren’t used to working on weekends!”
I’m very used to working on the weekends – but Saturday was my first weekend commute to the new job I started last Monday.
OK I’m audi.
The Smith St station is the highest elevation of any station in the city. A drunk transit worker told me that one night.
the roosevelt island station i believe is the furthest below ground in the whole system – that station is pretty scary
