dh, they were and because they were in such disrepair the MTA started buying them out. To this very day the MTA is still trying to catch up in terms of repairing those poorly run independent lines.
I guess I’m not so critical because I’m not from here. I think they MTA is doing a pretty good job with the bag of shit they’ve been handed. Modernizing a dilapidated system, nut job union leaders, an outraged public, and incompetent lawmakers makes one of the worst working environments ever.

it definitely doesn’t piss me off. i do know exactly what you mean tho
am serious:
what happens to someone who jumps the turnstile? and if you jump over the turnstile what are the chances of getting caught? I mean there are plenty of stations where there are no agents or cops so can’t you jump?
“$0.05 in 1904 is worth $1.24 in 2009, ishtar… The fare advances have been WELL ABOVE inflation.”
I don’t think it’s unfair to compare the subway fare in 1904 to the subway of today. weren’t there essentially several different independent systems in the city?

“There isn’t a single place free of rodents.”
Don’t tell that to Snappy!
Well, ishtar and dh, you pick the year and I’ll let you know what the fare increases should have been given the rate of inflation.
Don’t argue the methodology, just give me the points to compare.

There isn’t a single place free of rodents. I get the most deserted island in the world has rodents AND roaches.
The FDA inspectors found manure on a farm. Was it bags of fertilizer?
