Dona, you weren’t heated at all! You and G10 are wonderful people, even if we have small disagreements about certain things. And how could I ever be mad at someone who is willing to go on stage and sing karaoke at Montero’s? You rock!
The other morning, I looked both ways while crossing the bike lane – no bikes; approached the street, looked to the right – no cars; so i proceeded to cross, but OOOPS, forgot to look the wrong way for bikers NOT in the two-lane bike lane. Almost got clocked by a mutha effin’ salmon.
eh, I can’t find the source but it was part of the ravitch plan I think.
anyway, they are widening both the brooklyn-bound and manhattan-bound approaches. maybe they aren’t doing that to be toll-ready. you know what I wish they’d widen? the entrance to the cadman plaza exit. Or are they? I think it’s funny that they’d widen the place were you get on and get off but not the place to hangs up traffic on the bridge, right?
OK, Biff. I know that you are serious about your comments about need for addressing the energy crisis. It is pretty hard to be nuanced on the OT and for some reason I got a little heated up today.
Also, when I spend this much time on the OT discussing really serious things I start worrying about my ability to pay for my brownstone gentry lifestyle — stoops, roofs, (not to mention hair and pocketbooks).
“Biff, I find very intriguing the cities in Europe where they have public bike rentals all over the city, and a lot of streets closed to motor vehicle traffic, and enforcement of traffic laws vis-a-vis BOTH cyclists and motor vehicle drivers. Amsterdam comes to mind. I think that kind of program would work well in a city like New York too.”
Likewise. This whole “bikes are a pain” business is crap.
M4L, a mini wheee it is then. To me it felt more like an Arghhhhh.

well if you do a lot of walking the city, they ARE a pain. hahahah. i whatever, i look them as potential cash cows now (lawsuits)
and comparing a city like amsterdam to a city like new york city is like comparing bedbugs to peacocks.
*rob*
DCB, can I call it a mini-“Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee” for today?

Peace.
DCB, that was FUNNY! I guess something good did come out of this discussion after all. 🙂
