Ok, maybe you’ll remember this What…it’s been bugging me for years….who was the guy on late night radio – I don’t know what station – he had a talk/call-in show. He’d talk about anything – politics, UFO’s, music, old NY, news, anything. He had regular callers that he knew. He had to be a pretty old guy at that time. I doubt he’s alive. I had a little transistor radio and I used to listen to it real quiet while I was falling asleep at night. I just can’t ever remember his name. It was on about the same time as Alison Steele was on – cause I would flip the dial back and forth between them.
Despite layoffs at the Death Star, the fridge in the kitchenette is more full than ever. It seems lots of people are trying to save money by brown bagging it these days. Yesterday was the second time I went to get some ice at the same time an East Indian colleague of mine was heating up the most delicious smelling food ever. I was considering running out to get a toasted peanut butter and banana sandwich so I could ask her if she would trade lunches like we used to do in the cafeteria in Grade 7. Anyone else noticing more people brown bagging it?
Rob, Hmm, well, I realize his writing is ‘fiction’, but some of his ‘memories’ of the area don’t quite jibe with mine. I just think he sensationalizes certain aspects. That said, I really enjoyed hearing him speak at St. Ann’s Warehouse one evening a couple years ago.
Oh!! Do you remember when Howard Stern and Imus was together in WNBC? Plus in 1980 was a sad day when WABC went to All-Talk format. Alan Combs was a Asshat! I think that’s when top 40 radio died!

Rob, Which Lethem novel did you read? His recent stuff is really different from his earlier, more sci-fi-ish stuff.
I had sauteed chicken livers with pasta last night…I think that more than made up for the extravagance of Wednesday night’s dinner out.
“Do you remember when WPLJ was listenable?”
My first time listing to WPLJ is when I worked on Wall Street in ’81.
“I vaguely remember Howard Stern back then, Imus not sure.”
Cobblehiller I’m sure that was pre-pot days ; ^ }.

Someday this war is gonna end…

Yes, yes, gbh, sorry…I got all excited and mis-typed. But I do remember the tune!
I remember Harry Harrison. Do you remember when WPLJ was listenable? I vaguely remember Howard Stern back then, Imus not sure.
Oh wow, I have to go see the blackout stuff.
