there is essentially no bang for your buck in the nice neighborhoods in nyc. and when it comes to lower end rentals in marginal and flat out hood neighbood there is actually almost ZERO bang for your buck
studios in the bronx should NOT cost 1000 dollars. one bedrooms in bushwick should NOT be costing 1400 dollars.
too many neighborhoods provide too little for them to be that expensive, and that is why people thinking housing prices is seriously out of wack in nyc.
tell me why nyc is so special again to demand such ridiculous prices? cuz id love to know.
Some more education, bultrey….The market for brownstones is also made up of a lot of people coming from Manhattan who want a lifestyle change. There are hundreds of thouusands of people with condos in Manhattan who still have very large gains and can easily afford a brownstone, of which the market is much, much smaller than Manhattan 1 & 2 bedroom condos.
I came from manhattan. I wanted a big house, the architectural detail, a deck and a yard.
Agree with dh, although Bay Ridge & Kensington would be on my list.
Rob – I think there’s some places out there that provide a good bang for the buck and quality of life. They just aren’t in Brooklyn.
“You’re in Bed-Stuy just to make money”

OK…I gotta go off to a lunch meeting….I’ll pick up this lively banter when I get back
Oh right, the Crumbs discussion. How has the Crumbs opening been so far for all of you? Pretty exciting, right?

Reflect well upon dibs as a “hedge fund”? What does his profession have to do with where he presides?
