  1. I understand where you’re coming from ishtar – i just didn’t see it to the extent you apparently have been, so it’s hard for me to relate.

Nostrand definitely isn’t pretty – but it seems like the stores do a pretty good business.

  2. Funny thing is that I have no issues with drug dealing. I actually think it should be legal. What I do have a problem with is the blatant disrepect of people peacefully living in the neighborhood who do NOT want to see that foolishness or alter their routes just to void the dealing and the results of said dealing.

  3. “DH, lemme tell you, taking the M away from PS has resulted in some seriously overburdened R trains. And wait until school starts… I’ll probably just walk all the way into Manhattan every day.”

Yeah, I’m sure the R is no picnic right now. I guess it was a lesser of 2 evils scenario.

They really fucked up rezoning N Brooklyn – how can you add all that population density if public transport can’t support it?

  4. @ Cobble, really? Someone types something that isn’t all fucking roses and they don’t “sound happy here”? Are people supposed to walk through life and ignore shit ALL the time and makes absolutely no sense (e.g. the disparity between rent and quality of life in a neighborhood).

  5. Only place I ever saw a street drug deal happen right in front of me (i.e. saw stuff change hands) was on the UWS on a weekday afternoon about 3 yrs ago. Admittedly it was in front of a small project there. These were not yuppies.
Since I moved there has been a big drug bust in a larger project there that I could see from my apartment window. I was shocked as I never felt uncomofortable walking past there (though it had a really bad reputation when I came to NYC 11 yrs ago). I probably would have if I’d known what was going on there.
