My good friend is from Montreal and works in NY, going back on weekends and for stretches of time. I have been to visit a few times and always like going to old town to the nice restaurants there and going down to the water. The Notre Dame cathedral is beautiful. Forget the name of the main museum there, but enjoyed that very much too.
Jessi – so a toasted bagel is out of the question?
I think my 2 favorites are:
Everything bagel with Scallion CC – non toasted
Cinna-Raisin bagel with butter – toasted and then I like to sprinkle sea salt (or salt in the packet who am I kidding?) on top – haha
Oh I never had the Lays Jarred dip – I just make my own now (using Liptons onion soup mix)
etson, try to spend a night in Quebec City if you can. It’s around a two hour drive from Montreal and is more like a European city than any other city in North America.
11217 – this is war! 😉 Mile End bagels arrive from Montreal and require toasting to be edible. Toasting = total dealbreaker. I tried one at the flea, refused to let them toast it, and threw it out.
Thinking I might head over to Montreal for a weekend before it gets too cold. I’ve never been but have lots of colleagues that used to live / work there.

canadian bagels suck
lol Biff.
And I agree with rf that the bagels in Fairway are pretty damn good as well.
I got mine actually AT Mile End and didn’t get it toasted and I loved it. I HATE toasted bagels!! See, we agree on that at least. 🙂
