When it comes to the question of gay marriage, the future is not on the conservatives’ side. The ultimate resolution of this issue is a matter of simple math:
Young Americans favor gay marriage, old Americans don’t. The poll numbers on this question are immutable, as unyielding as the aging process itself.
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger summed it up nicely — and succinctly — this week: “One day,” said the Governator, “either the people or courts will recognize gay marriage.”
I’m pretty sure it’s going to be both. The “Millennial” generation will see to that. All anyone need know about the long-term prospects of gay marriage — and of the likely fate of a political party that opposes it — is that evangelical Christians under the age of 25 are more tolerant of gay marriage than New Deal Democrats over the age of 65.”
Over all, 65 percent of the college freshmen surveyed last fall supported same-sex marriage, compared with 58 percent of Americans 18 to 29 years old and 39 percent of the population nationwide, according to the Pew research groups’ study.
Support for gay marriage has increased generally in the past decade. In 2000, 56 percent of entering college students backed it. Four years later, freshmen were 57 percent supportive at the time they enrolled, and by graduation, 69 percent of that entering class supported gay marriage, according to the UCLA research institute.
I had a lovely vacation although it was marked by two unexpected deaths of parents of friends. One was the mother of my old bandmate from high school and I flashed back to 1986 when his father died unexpectedly and I also went to that funeral.
I also went to a wedding where I was seated at the first table (after the wedding table of course) along with my mother and several couples in their 80s. I thought this was odd as I’d seen the bride last when she was 7 and staying at our house for a week. The bride’s mother told us to sit in the second pew at the church and when they exchanged their vows, I could see the groom’s face as he recited them. His eyes were plaintively searching hers and it was quite tender and loving and romantic.
I had been under official notice I might be getting laid off but that was rescinded. Yay! While away I had scheduled a series of programs for the youth here, as I run a program each Wednesday for them and they seem to like it. Upon return I was sent a memo for our new CEO regarding youth and out company. Here is an excerpt:
“Youth do come to the programs, but they are not always consistent. One branch seems to have found the magic formula. [My office] has a large population of adolescents who are consistently engaged in whatever programs are created for them. The youth at the [my office] have taken seriously Mr. Infinitejester’s response to their needs.”
And I got obsessed with Lady Gaga’s song and video “Alejandro,” found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niqrrmev4mA&feature=av2e. Observe the dance she does at 4:11 to the words “You know that I love you boy, hot like Mexico.” Observe each dancer as they follow along with the intricate choreography. Where do they get such dancers? How do they write such visually compelling dances? I watched this part multiple times, watching each dancer alone t see if he kept up with the moves appropriately. Also good is how she makes the sign of the cross at 3:14 and 5:33.
And since BC believes that children are best raised by a man and a women (even though I proved otherwise in the post way above) I suppose we should sent the children to those being raised by single parents to internment camps.
This is why BrooklynCouch’s attitude is eventually going to lose. Just isn’t a issue for those under 40.
I just got email from my nephew’s fiance asking if should list lesbiman(my other half) as ‘uncle of groom’ for wedding in the program. Since he is playing viola for the wedding.
She is doing real traditional roman catholic church wedding (that is her family/not his). He is in MBA school, and she is pretty mainstream besides being really catholic. Her parents were even upset that they moved in with each other last year even tho been together for like 5 years and already engaged.
You haven’t proven that you know what “socialism” means, what the 14th amendment of the constitution is, or shown that you understand the basics of contract law….
Why should we think you have even the slightest grasp of what “purjurous” means? (btw, it’s spelled perjurious)

Hello everyobody. How are you all doing?
I had a lovely vacation although it was marked by two unexpected deaths of parents of friends. One was the mother of my old bandmate from high school and I flashed back to 1986 when his father died unexpectedly and I also went to that funeral.

You are correct, Pete.

I’m not a lawyer (or a liar) but I know how to spell perjurious.

“Perjurous gay woman confirmed!”
Please crawl back under your rock, BC.
