I served many years ago on a criminal case (drug charges) and I think one of the most educational experience I’ve had. Not just the watching how whole trial, evidence, questioning, reasoning happen in real world as opposed to TV version…..
but more enlightening was the group dynamics of 12 people of varying backgrounds experiences and personalities sitting down and discussing case and coming to conclusion/ consensus.
exactly, delepp. Especially with people who are not like yourself…that is work in same field, have same interests, etc.

That sounds like the bit I wouldn’t like. I have a bit of a problem giving a sh!t about other people’s opinions.
Donatella,
“Big surprise, traffic is said to be reduced by 25% in speed around Prospect Park due to bike lines. Why is that news?”
Because that was the POINT of the traffic calming on PPW and it is a POSITIVE thing.
I sat on a murder trail a few years ago. I’m more afraid of a jury of my peers than the NYPD framing me.
Actually, I’m for Etson lending his fine English accent to that “Strokin'” song for the Shakespearean elegance it so sorely lacks.
Bike discussion oddly reminded me of this joke:
Nazi officer: Jew, who is responsible for all of the evils in the world?
Jew: (Under duress) The Jews . . . and the bicycle riders.
Nazi: Why the bicycle riders?
Jew: Why the Jews?
pete, jury duty is an excellent study on who your neighbors are. It was also a great way to build up “persuassion” skills.

Someone did sing that one at some point that night:
“You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar…”
I need to get a list together ahead of time as I can never remember or decide what to pick when I am there.
Pete, every time I served, I got onto the jury but the cases all settled before start of trial
