  1. biff, what did you think of winter’s bone? Quite bleak. I thought it was interesting when she told her little brother, “never ask for what should be offered”. Reminded me of the Travelers in the south.

I would love to be called for jury duty.

  2. there’s quite a bit of blaming the victim going on in these stories. is to make people feel safer? so what if he had a troubled past. what does that have to do with anything? also the person who was killed in parkslope by TWENTY people had a prior record. so what? it’s as stupid and annoying and irrelevant as when a rape victim is described has having a slutty past. so what?

i think the laws in nyc are way too lenient on street scum.

    *rob*

  3. Great time at Montero on Friday!!! Impressive PLUSA turnout — about 20.

PS, I stayed for the hot dogs and then left with etson, Slopey and Biff.

Where’s DeLepp??? He slapped my face, knocked off my glasses, lifted up my shirt AND grabbed my *ss!

OK, I’m out. Only allowed 10 minutes on these public access computers. Other prisoners in my block are gonna shank me if I don’t get off.

Oh, and now I get my hour lunch break! I pray they don’t pick me for a jury at 4pm

  4. Rob, the most shocking part of the story is this:

    “A 28-year-old man with a troubled past was…ambushed… just after 7 p.m.”

There is (was) a 28 year old man who lived in Brooklyn Heights???

  5. park slope, now brooklyn heights! no where is safe! saw this on gothamist, no clue if it was mentioned here, but there is a thread about it over on BHB if anyone isnt banned.

Man Shot Twice On Brooklyn Heights Street

Photo: Brooklyn Heights BlogA man was shot twice in the back outside of his Clark Street apartment in Brooklyn Heights last evening. According to the Daily News, “A 28-year-old man with a troubled past was…ambushed… just after 7 p.m.”

A witness told Brooklyn Heights Blog, “I heard the shots and I looked over and I saw this young kid with a gun, and shoot it again, and then ran off,” and others said there were two men (one with a backpack) and “both fled east on Clark St., where one jumped in to a red SUV.” The News says the gunman was described as “a heavyset man in his 20s – was wearing jeans and a dark T-shirt.”

Other neighbors tried to help the man while one was in shock, telling BHB, “I’m shaking. I have to admit that until I actually saw the blood, I was maybe a little…not believing it was real, but then once I saw it I really started to feel very shaky, and this is totally out of keeping with this building, with this neighborhood, it’s not at all what you would expect here.”
