  1. Rob, you are right about “blaming the victim”. People can’t handle the idea of random crime, it is too terrifying, so they will look to see how the person “brought it on themselves”. It is nasty but it is human nature.

    I was held up at gunpoint on the Promenade in first week of Sept, 1985, at around 8 pm. Two teenagers wanting our money. I was with a woman friend. They were caught in the act by cops in a cart patroling on the Promenade. I never saw the gun, and complained non-stop about the trouble of having to go to the precinct, file charges, meet the ADa, etc. I was going to move to Japan in a week and was so busy, that I was just pissed of having to do more things. My friend still thinks I am crazy, apparntly she is still traumatized.

  2. all the news stories today are really making me ill… now there are people on staten island rationalizing the beatings of WORKING mexicans.

    “Resident Delphine Butler says it doesn’t matter what the motive is, but unemployment could be a catalyst. “The average Mexican immigrant is working five days a week. There’s young men here who can’t get a job,” she said. “Nobody has the right to attack anybody but I am saying it causes tension and frustration.”

    hey lady, just because you raised LAZY thugs with zero worth ethic doesnt give these beatings a pass.

    GRRR people are annoying and will any excuse in the book.

  3. Hi folks;

    Just popping my head in to say hello. I enjoyed my brief time at Montero’s.

    What a strange coincidence. I was on the road last Thursday and Friday, and didn’t check the site. I get off the BQE exit at Atlantic Ave, stop for a light, and I see a PLUSA party outside Montero’s!

    I’ll be on the road again. See you in a couple of weeks.

    BTW: one unfortunate aspect of just poppping in after a road tip was that I was not at my full Benson appearance. I don’t wear my hat when visiting customers, and I needed a trim. Please note.

  4. speaking of real names, Etson paused a little when he said hi to me and I suspected it was because he wasn’t sure if he should address me by my name or stoner ID. I promptly too charge and addressed him by his name which he promptly got the cue to do the same.

    that’s the kind of leadership I have.

  5. What was I supposed to be doing to entertain him, m4l. He knows these parties are just about drinking and stupidity. Besides, he got some “entertainment” after we got home.
