so my question to you is this… where exactly DO you want to ship out all the poor people? cuz that is essentially what you are saying. i’d love to know where you think they are all going to go to make room for people like you. honestly, i dont think they are going anywhere anytime soon. and they shouldnt have to.
Where did lech say that? I can load and shoot all kinds of firearms, but I don’t think it makes me or less a man. But it’s a useful skill that can come in handy when you least expect it. Like plumbing.
I guess you are right, m4l, that kind of person will want a nabe with better restaurants and services–the kind of people that drove up the prices in Ft. Greene!
rf, you made my point. those folks you described is NOT big money types (ie bankers, traders, big lawyers,…). DIBS is the rare case and more the exception vs the norm. I like where DIBS is. I like crown heights north else wouldn’t have bought it. these hoods will get there but it aint there yet and I’m talking about the perception – ie the 1st and most difficult hurdle to clear with these big money types. The perception is still not that good from the big money types. Now if they took some more walking tours with Montrose, they could be persuaded.
Because more4less said that banker-lawyer-trader types shy away from Bed-Stuy/Crown Heights and black and Latino people know it’s a beautiful neighborhood even though it’s populated mostly by black people. Gentrifying-whitening rapidly just like Clinton Hill and Ft. Greene. I can’t tell you how many parents of Manhattan kids told me what a dangerous neighborhood Brooklyn Tech was in–yeah, dangerous with $4,000,000 brownstones.
“or an anonymous bonking pad”
That’s why I stay with donatella.

Some people just need a convenient crash pad which works for them. Nothing more than that.
