  1. Spicy tuna roll is AWFUL because of the sauce they use. No such thing as spicy tuna roll in Japan. Also, no such thing as Salmon skin roll in Japan either. All those ridiculous US-named rolls…fuggedaboutit.

  2. hey folks,

For those hankering for a “fresh” meal that is literally crawling out of the plate,
get over to Northern Blvd. in Queens where it goes into the Bayside/Bay Terace area.
This area has loads of Korean restaurants where you can pick the catch of the day including lively squid and octopus still wiggling on the plate.

    Delepp and RF,
the Jackie Robinsin is a fun ride. I’ve driven that road for the longest time.
Used to be called the Interboro.
Starts in Forest Hills with it’s private streets,
winds its way through Middle Village/Glendale which are the most conservative neighborhoods in all of NYC,
moves through the Forest Park area with a scenic golf course (nice park with a carousel),
hits brooklyn with all those cemeteries. They used to have bridges over the parkway which connected the cemeteries.
You could get lost in there for sure.
Houdini’s grave site is in one of them. I’ve seen it but it’s a closely guarded secret.
Next comes the Ridgewood reservoir which was drained in the early Eighties and now has a nice nature preserve but I wouldn’t go there after dusk.
Highland park with the biggest mansion that I’ve seen in Brooklyn and some sort of monk’s hideaway
and finally dumps off on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York.
    Cool.

…oh, and yes it’s very narrow and winding.
Do not speed through the cemetary stretch!

  3. Is there gefilte fish roll in Kosher sushi places?

I always crack up when I go to sushi places in south brooklyn that cater to mostly Russians and then have maki rolls with names like Armani roll, Gucci roll, Fendi roll, Sheepsheadbay roll, Russian dream roll, etc etc.
