Fun fact: I know one of the actresses in the Joy Luck Club.

I bet you wished you could sleep with her as I do Russell Wong who played Lin Xiao and was called “Gao Pee” by the girl!!!

Ask your wife what gao pee means!!!

  2. And go rent “Joy Luck Club.” for a glimpse of various levels and generations of Chinese culture.

The more important question is what the boy’s parents think about him dating your daughter. 🙂

    What nationality are you??

  3. rf…my bf is from Fujian, not that it’s relevant to your daughter’s bf.

As long as he fits the typical Chinese stereotype…smart in school, plays some instrument, has respect for his parents…count your blessings.

    Was he born here?

  4. oooohhh, rf, thanks for the info on Tomkins and the internet place. And yes, I know and love Eddie Hibbert. He is the man. I bought so much stuff from him – two marble fireplaces, fixtures, furniture, all kinds of stuff and plus that guy helped me so much with the brownstone (once cleared out the basement of stuff the former owner left) and pure moral support. I would go to Eddie on Saturdays with some insane contractor story or other and within minutes I would be laughing my butt off. Also he gave me a lot of good contractor recs. I love the guy.

But I thought that there would be more furniture/stuff/objects/pictures/pottery/dishes/interesting stuff. But there isn’t. So the connection with real estate and brownstones is pretty tenuous. And whatever there is, is pretty slim pickin’s AND overpriced.

  5. OK, Dibs, I know that you are not well-acquainted with Team Hetero. Maybe I should ask more4less? but my daughter appears to have her first boyfriend–a Fuji kid (as she puts it, as opposed to Mando or Canto). Should I worry? He seems like a nice kid. He’s the palest Chinese kid I’ve ever seen. They are both 14.

  6. Lech, you’re right, we have memberships that gets us into the Hall of Science, Children’s Museum, Aquarium, all the zoos and a bunch of the really popular museums too. It’s worth every penny.

Have you been to the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey? We haven’t gone yet. It’s supposed to be phenomenal.
