Benson, I didn’t mean to call you an ignorant person, I meant to says that you and DIBS are ignorant about union stuff. Remember, union staff are not paid overtime. So, a lot of times, when I worked for a union, everyone had to do picket lines on nights, weekends, holidays, in addition to their time off. So the union hiring temp staff to cover actually sounds nice to me. Yes, unions are generally terrible employers in my experience, and there is a hypocrisy, but not in hiring temp workers to staff picket lines.
Also, just FYI, every union I’ve ever worked with has contracts that allow employers to bring in temp, non-union workers to fill in for unexpected work-overflows (assuming no one is on lay-off).
“I would think in his field turning down an interview for a position you don’t want would not be frowned upon. It’s called swagger.”
Well, I don’t have any job yet to turn down, but thanks for the confidence, JB. 🙂
Hmmm, I could intentionally blow the interview to cut down on the swagger factor, but then I’ll probably be stamped with some “REJECT” label at the firm.
By the way, is it just me or is every HR department in every organization filled with incompetent lazy asses whom one can never reach when one needs them?
CGar, you need to listen to more heavy metal and hardcore hip hop – them music is fertilizer for the NUTS. then, you wont be apologizing so often and telling folks to F off
I bet Pete hates lunch
“Pete has been posting on other threads. Is he avoiding the OT? Did someone have a dust-up with hiM?”
No more than every other day. benson, what threads? Will you please tell him to get his lazy union arse over here!
I’m going to ask Pete if he wants to grab lunch with me
“but not in hiring temp workers to staff picket lines”
As it was reported, these temp workers weren’t just there to fill in during bathroom breaks.
“Hey, it’s not a good fit for me, but I’d love to grab a few beers with you guys the next time you have a happy hour.”
At your level, no lazy, incompetent HR dipsh*t is gonna stand in your way if you’re wanted for a position in the future.
