Donatella;
I strongly disagree about Torre. I used to think that Joe Torre had some class, but he lost all my respect when he acted like a petulant child when big George tried to toughen up the terms of the new contract. Act like a man and don’t run like a crybaby to the press when the man who pays you (very) well actually wants to change the terms in a new contract. It’s called negotiating to most people, crybaby.
Also, is there any product that Joe Torre won’t endorse? His endoresments seem so heartfelt, don’t they?
Lots of sad news today. They say celebrity deaths come in threes, but this is an unusual trio — Pekar, Kupferberg and Steinbrenner (time to play guess which of these things is not like the other). Among other things, Pekar was a huge and knowledgeable jazz fan, although most famous for his illustrated narratives. Kupferberg and the Fugs were right in the middle of the LES late 60s scene. Important but somewhat forgotten part of the counterculture. Steinbrenner was the owner you love to hate and redefined baseball in NYC.
He and Martin were a real show; Steinbrenner the consummate bully and Billy Martin, resident lunatic. I didn’t like the way he bullied Torre either. He was unforgettable though.
I hate clowns. Always have. Clowning is the lowest form of humor.
Except my sister married a clown, and he’s actually a really good guy. They were in Ringling Bros. together in the early ’90s. She danced on elephants and he was a clown.

Good idea, Kens.
I agree with M4L.
