“Closer to “sing” than “shing” Probably more of a Fukinese dialect than pure Mandarin”
I thought it was pronounced with a slight Hungarian-Jewish lilt. I can hear my Aunt Rose from Budapest, may she rest in peace, call him “zhing” (like “Zsa Zsa”).
“Cobble, have you consider dumb-downing your resume ”
M4L, Believe me, I’ve tried to get my foot in the door and been rebuffed by TEMP agencies. The minute they see my resume, one of two things happens. I get no response, or I get the ‘you are over-qualified’ response.
It’s past “hail mary” time for me. It’s pretty much over. Everything I worked for, all my savings, all my retirement money will be gone by Dec. As of this week, I have no unemployment. I’m a leach on society. Done. But that’s mainly because of my character/moral failings and the fact that I’m a life long commie democrat, I’m sure.
Sorry, but there is a difference between “getting it done” and running roughshod over the rights of citizens. Moses, who did accomplish great things, never saw the people in the way of his projects. He wouldn’t be nearly as interesting if he hadn’t been so self contradictory. On the one hand, he was a tireless proponent of public parks, on the other, he’d tear your neighborhood down without a second thought, in order to create that park.
Citizen investigation of projects, as in CB meetings and community input, is not a bad thing. They aren’t usually the ones holding up a project. It’s the “professionals” who study things to death, while collecting fees who are at fault, and they are usually in the employ of someone else who has a vested interest in milking the project for all they can. In that respect Moses’ high handedness is a fun thing to watch, but that much power is too easily corrupted.
“Ding, ding, ding – people have been complaining that the underwriters are charging higher than normal fees to underwrite the stimulus bonds. hahaha
Beautiful. Of course they are.”
Yeah, Cobble, here’s the skinny:
For banks, Build America Bonds are more lucrative than traditional municipal bonds. Weighted by size, municipal issuers paid $6.55 per $1,000 of Build America Bond sold in June, compared with $6.08 for traditional municipal bonds.
Bankers argue that the fees are fair because Build America Bonds are new. Over time, they say, the fees have fallen.
Cobble, have you consider dumb-downing your resume so you can get a more entry level gig just to get into the mix? it is about that hail mary time – ie nothing to lose
Darn Fifth Amendment! So long as the spoils are equally disbursed along the way and due process isn’t being used as a roadblock, I think I’m okay with it. Have a good night, Benson.
vote out all decision-blocking incumbents. for no decisions, why bother sending an elected official there in the first place. might as well have a command and control communist gov

I’d think it probably has more to do with the crack problem you referenced above 😉
But seriously, Cobble, you rule and it will work out. I promise 🙂
