rf, that clothing vendor operating out of a van opposite the Hong Kong station restaurant on bayard st in chinatown – her son got full scholarship to MIT. I remember the kid helping out at the van often too. hope my boy can turn out that well too and not only would I be proud, I can retire early (ie bank his college fund as retirement fund)
“Murray Bergtram High School of Business (third-rate ghetto school in lower Manhattan) and is on his way to HARVARD! Second generation Chinese kid.”
My sister graduated from this school, chose not to go to college (she had that option) and is today a highly paid manager at Verizon. She worked hard to get where’s she’s at today (homeowner in Virginia) – something you would never understand.

Dave, I know you have your Asian hair salon in midtown, but I discovered one on 19th Street, between 6th & 7th. Worth the excursion fare for the heteros and the homos.
