Thanks vinca! that does make sense. Having worked in auditing before, I’m surprised the auditors would bother with the negligible amount of interest my deposit has accumulated, but I guess if you have enough 1,000 dollar deposits in an account it starts to add up!
DH: This is a stretch re: your earlier question, but depending on your rental the
W9 might come into play re: interest paid on landlord’s bank account for security deposits and due to you, or separately, if you happen to be living in Section 8 housing (as many Roosevelt Islanders suddenly find themselves). Ask your landlord for a copy of his audit notice and a letter from his accountant stating the reasons why you’re involved in your landlord’s audit.
