It was an electrical fire in a basement, fire is out. An elderly person was overcome with fumes and went to the hospital but should be OK. The house with the fire and the houses on either side need to get vacated.
I am thankful that no one was hurt more seriously.
Lechacal, that is scary and I really hope that people got out and that no one died there. It is really agitating to be near that; when I lived in BH, I was steps away from the St. George fire – 17 alarm fire in 98 I think it was.
Miraculously, no one was hurt there.
Pete, I’m not sure about Dean Street, but if it’s the usual Tiffany Place building, I’m not wild about it.
m4l, ordinarily that would be on the wrong side of the tracks for the stuck up prick, but he loves 1BBP, and if he’s considering such remote outposts as Ft. Greene and the South Slope, and even Boerum Hill, how can Tiffany Place possibly be any worse? 😉
Sounds like it’s about halfway between 7th Ave and 8th Ave on 10th St, not closer to 7th Ave as I originally thought. Smoke has died down at this point, still lots of emergency services and sounds like the press has arrived.
“CGar, I walk past the Love Lane conversion all the time and I really think those might be something. Not sure if they’ll have private outdoor space . . . . They should be on the market soon.”
Ringo, I met someone who lives on the block and has seen the apartments. Apparently most of them have front and back terraces/decks — due to Landmarking issues, they could only build up where the structure can’t be seen from the street, so the rest of the space is outdoor space. The finishes are supposed to be top of the line — your typical Euro brand appliances, which frankly have become so ubiquitous that I think I’ll hork if hear about another Bosch appliance. As for marketing, the developer has been moving especially slowly because he’s waiting for the market to recover and planning to ask, drum roll please, upwards of $1,500 square foot.
Oh, and Ringo, please check your email!!! I’m feeling rejected. 😉

CGar, true true. btw, you can save on parking if you move to my hood – street parking is still very very easy.

I don’t think I could ever visit someone who lived in a place called “Tiffany Place.”

Kens, not saying you’ll read all the posts but to not read it at all is a tough sell
That’s troubling, jackal. I hope its not too bad, but it doesn’t sound good.
