Donatella, yeah parking has steadily got worst yr after yr – probably new folks moving into hood has or went to get cars. If not for the crazy snow storms, I would not be parking my car in the lot
Is it just me or does anyone else (other than those of you who hate soccer and the World Cup) find that it’s not always all that evident from the 3-letter country code who the hell is playing???
Really makes me think about what I would do if we had to vacate our apartment because of a fire in our building or next door.
We know a family that had just bought a place on 3rd st when there was a fire last year (one fatality) and they had to live in a hotel or something for a while.
Everybody has checked their fire escapes and knows how to operate the latches, deadbolts, etc. in the dark and under pressure, right? Especially people with kids?
M4L, parking around me seems to be getting a little worse. I am not sure why. It could be more occupation of 470 Vanderbilt. On Saturday, the flea actually takes up a fair amount of parking – also, soccer practice at the Brooklyn Tech field. But, thank God, they changed the parking regulations so that we only need to change Monday and Tues (as opposed to M,T,Th,Fr before).
Kens, the bike thread was the usual. The serious part (and I think why people get so upset) is that almost somebody has had either a serious near miss of some kind or an actual accident. It dissolved into comedy at the end though.
Dave, it’s funny I’ve never liked the name of that street either. It’s always sounded contrived to me, but I’m guessing it goes back 200 years — remind me to ask Pete, I think he was living in the area when it was founded.

Tiffany Place is cool, but it’s a hike to the stores and subway, especially in winter.
Lechacal, good.
