“Today’s “hit rate” of people demonstrating any understanding whatsoever about what they are discussing is substantially below 50%.”
You’re right, Jackal. You, DIBS, benson and your ilk are really demonstrating that brains and education don’t guarantee common sense or any concern for the common good.
Hayward must be the worst CEO of a major Corp. ever.
His behaviour in front of congress put BP at even more litigation risk. Everyone realizes that he has to walk a very fine line in his testimony. But claiming that he knows absolutely nothing about anything only proves that BP was negligent.
Nobody would expect him to know all the details of every deep water site, or to have specific engineering knowledge. But to know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING proves the case that BP was screwed up from the top down.
His testimony could have helped BP. Instead, it will be the raw material for future law suits.
Hayward should have made a deal to limit liability in exchange for putting up the $20B. That was the time to be tough. Not in front of congress.

Today is a rare day. I would rather go talk to a bunch of lawyers than bullshit online. At least they will be reasonably careful and analytical.
