Thank you, Montrose — as always, the voice of reason!
“Just WAIT until the folks in the Gulf states realize that he has destroyed one of our last strong industries: energy exploration, just to pleased coastal elites.”
No, it’s Big Oil that’s destroying itself, by prioritizing short-term profit over everything else.
“Where exactly do I argue for less corporate responsibility? I’m arguing that BP’s responsibility should be adjudicated in courts of law, rather than by grandstanding politicians playing to mob emotions.”
When you argue against the Escrow account. You’re saying it should be adjudicated in the courts, but this is somewhat disingenuous. You know that those court cases take forever. They would likely be dragged out for years if not decades. It’s a way for BP to postpone or avoid payouts. And probably take the losses as they go. But it won’t help the people and places that really need helping and right now. As I said earlier, this is an outsized disaster, it calls for an outsized way of dealing with it.
some crackhead who obviously was just getting his daily methadone from the clicic on layfayette street comes up to me and says let me buy a cigarette from you. (normally i wont take someones money if i deem them worthy, but he wasnt so i was going to take the money cigarettes are expensive). i give him the cigarette and he grins and just WALKS AWAY! so i demand my cigarette back talking in the wind looking like an idiot as he’s walking away. i cant believe i fell for one of my own tricks!
“I just don’t understand why you seem to be arguing for less corporate responsibility?”
Cobble;
My final word on the matter (I promise!)

“i cant believe i fell for one of my own tricks!”
