right, take a look at big map of NYC – and maybe 15% of it is the Yuppie territory you detest. But somehow you are totally unwilling to go see or explore the rest. There are few places in the Bronx you would object to.
dibs, bldg re-assed 3 years ago. Supposed to be phased in over a 5 year period with max increase being 20% because bldg is greater than 10 units. 40% of my maintenance goes towards taxes. I’ll be paying 4K a year for a one bedroom when they’re done with us. Hired a lawyer for an appeal, did not go well.
I would think that advertised rent for StuyTown is a ‘net effective rent’ or teaser amount. 1st month free or something like that. Probably $2500 is real rent. And it is or was a very nice place until MetLife sold it and now filled it with party people.
Stuytown apartments are very nice, although the ones in Peter Cooper Village (north of 20th St.) are bigger. They have great windows, solid construction (very little noise between floors and apartments), good kitchens–real family apartments. From back when a brick building was a brick building, not just a 1/2-inch layer of brick-like stuff on top of the styrofoam. Ditto the parquet floors.
They have cross-ventilation in the apartments too. Until the wiring was improved in the 90s, there was no air conditioning.
“ha. typical response. essentially saying, you dont belong in nyc, please go away. sorry, i aint going anywhere.”
Please, what’s this concept of someone not “belonging somewhere” – that’s total BS. I’m not trying to kick you out (I’d even take you in as the 5th roommate), just saying there are plenty of places where you won’t be surrounded by the stuff that makes you uneasy.

“catio?” Absolutely ridiculous. Looks like they live in some war zone like Beirut.
how many of the PLUSA cat ladies have a catio?
