Thanks, Legion. 🙂
Rob, re what Benson has said about groups, I thought of something you might want to look into. One form of social networking out there is something called Meetup. Someone told me about some language group that meets through meetup and I went to one (reading literature). Then I was doing a search on meetup and it seems that many many free special interest groups meet through this system. For example, I have not gone to one yet but there is a History Interests group in NYC. The guy who leads it puts together amazing things (speakers, museum talks etc). It is all free. Then I started searching and there are so many interesting looking groups. http://www.meetup.com

Yeah, those “Tot Lots” are really odd. The one on Cortelyou and Argyle gets closed REALLY EARLY. I don’t have kids, but I walk by there all the time. The other day at 6:00pm — SIX. There was this old man telling everyone to pack up because he was locking the gate!!
So ridiculous. So, you feed your little rug rat at, say, 5:30… and you try to go have a little pre-bedtime romp on the slides. But NOPE. All locked up.
Maybe they should get someone that can stay awake later than 6:30 to lock the gate.

Since the unions won the court case against the unilateral furlough scheme… there actually has been no chatter. It’s does make me a little nervous.
But it’s actually not fully clear if we are a “State Agency” — even though our paychecks come from Albany, there is some sort of weird grey area. (I take it that was the second line of defense that my union’s lawyers were going to employ if the first lawsuit didn’t pan out.)

Re Japanese, it looks like you have a solution with Benson. Plus, he knows something about what you need which is more than half the battle.

Denton, if I don’t know what he is talking about, I have a couple of colleagues here I could ask who are native speakers.
“Lastly was the most unusual item of all: the by-laws for the mysterious and secretive club known only as “the Poached Egg Clubâ€.”
PLUSAs, Listen up! I think we need to REVIVE the Poached Egg Club! (see MM’s column today!)
Hey Denton, I speak Japanese. I spent more time than I will admit studying before I went to Japan. Then lived there for a few years.
Rf and Rob;
My wife volunteers at Sean Casey’s animal rescue. She loves it. She takes the dogs out for a long walk so that they can get some exercise.
