Rachel Maddow went out on a boat yesterday in LA and with a little stick was picking up oil globs to show what it looked like. There were tons of these big globs of petrogoo and leaves. Ugh. Ok, but then she went to some little island, the land of the dead. Man, I wanted to cry. There were tons of pelicans standing in the water, dead covered in oil crap, tons of them, and birds too.
Any of you engineers out there know if/how the Army Corps of Engineers is getting involved in any aspect of this?
You know what annoys the crap out of me? When you’re standing there waiting for an elevator, and one arrives, and you’re standing to the side so whoever is on the elevator can get off before you get on, and then the door opens, but then the guy on the elevator takes his sweet ass time moseying off the goddamn elevator and getting out of your way. It’s even more annoying when they have a look on their face like they’re all surprised that the door opened and confused about what to do next. You know what? HAVE A FUCKING PURPOSE. MOVE LIKE YOU MEAN IT. IF YOU CAN’T GET OFF OF AN ELEVATOR WITH CONVICTION, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY GODDAMN BUILDING AND STOP USING UP THE OXYGEN IN MY ELEVATOR. I mean how do these people manage to get off subways without getting trampled? Can they figure that out because there are windows?
Agree with Cobble, the Brown Pelican sitting in oil and that other bird that couldn’t even move as the waves of oil splash over it were very disturbing. I literally yelled at the TV for the guy filming to “stop filming and rescue the bird!”.
