how long do I want to sit here and watch neurotic people endlessly talking to each other_—
I know…can go to any function in NYC and do the same thing. But at least get to drink at same time.
-Three Stooges: Donatella, that Bensonhurst story is for real. In fact, I learned that fact on the “Forgotten NY” web-site, where they even show pictures of the homes.
-Honeymooners: Donatella (again). Isn’t your brother a conservative too? Well, between that and his ability to recite lines from The Honeymooners, he sounds like my kind of guy. I’ll give you a piece of Honeymonners trivia that stumps most so-called experts. What are the three names given to Ralph’s boss at the Gotham Bus Co. in the classic 39 episodes? Answer> Marshall, Monahan and Harper. Try to stump your brother with that one!
-Million Dollar Movies: my old friends always say that one of the great things about growing up in the NYC area in 60’s and 70’s were the two TV independent stations: channel 9 (WOR) and 11 (WPIX). All they ran were re-runs of old movies and classic TV shows. I remember the theme music from the Million Dollar Movie. I also remember that they ran alot of “Godzilla” movies.
-Woody Allen: Legion, my conservative brother-in-arms, I tip my hat to you on alot of things, but we’ll part company when it comes to Woody Allen, especially his later “serious” films. I saw Anny Hall and Manhattan about one year ago at the Film Forum. It was like “nails on the blackboard”. I kept asking myself: “how long do I want to sit here and watch neurotic people endlessly talking to each other”? Even my wife had to admit that these films did not “age” well.
