  1. “ceo pressures is not the same as our gigs. to think otherwise is not understanding what the ceo gig entails”

i don’t buy this whole “CEO pressure” thing.

At any point after getting a 20 million dollar payout – he can quit and live off that forever.

the REAL pressure is the entry level guy who actually NEEDS his job to pay rent, debt and support the family.

  2. As DH would say, lots of “cane wagging” here today as well as jealousy. If you want to live in socialism, go to Russia or Korea or whatever. There is a reason why a lot of immigrants (often many brilliant ones) run here to create a good life or at least a better life for their families.

We have a LOT of lawyers here who gave up probably cushy associates jobs because a quality of life was more important to them than high salaries. BUT a lot of lawyers stay at those jobs and make partner and work hard and make ridiculous money. So What? that’s their choice. Who are you to tell them how much money they can make or they can’t make? So if there is a plumber who happens to charge high rates and get away with it and make 500K a year (believe me those exist), is he allowed to make that salary according to you folks or is he overpaid for his work? If there is a brain surgeon who is a top specialist in his field and decides to charge cash for 12 hour brain surgeries and has a line out the door make makes 20 mil a year? Is he allowed to make that while other doctors make 80K working in ER of a community hospital?

Seriously, that’s just a disgusting attitude to have. I had a job that I thought that I was underpaid for and unappreciated for. Did I bitch? NO. Just sent out resumes like a mad dog and got a dream job. Do I get paid a lot? NO, but I don’t care because I enjoy coming to work everyday and I make enough to make me happy. If I ever need to make more to give my family a better quality of life, I’ll look for another job that pays more or take a second job. Simple as that.

  3. I have a question for DIBS about Philly.

I am going to meet a friend in Philly — it’s a half-way(ish) point. He’s coming from Delaware and we want to have brunch and go to the Museum afterwards. Do you have a recommendation for a nice brunch place.

    Thanks!!

  4. CEO’s who wreak havoc on their companies should be paid nothing. It is outrageous for executives to get paid huge salaries after needing gov’t bailout money. Or bringing their companies into bankruptcy.
I remember when Drexel Burnham Lambert went bankrupt–Michael Milken got the blame, but it was the huge executive bonuses that actually pushed company over the edge.

Puleease. It’s not socialism, it’s fairness. The money ‘given’ to a CEO is not in any imagination ‘earned’ by him. It’s given by a complaisant board and is subject to no controls whatsoever.

First you said it should be taxed away and given to the entitled.

Now you’re saying it’s not even earned.

No, life is not fair, but we are in a capitalist system and that’s life.

If people don’t like their particular situation or lot in life, they can strive to change it in our system. In others, not so much.

People don’t flock from all over the world to work in America because someone is going to get taxed so they can live better. They come here to fight for the “American Dream.”

  6. ceo pressures is not the same as our gigs. to think otherwise is not understanding what the ceo gig entails. me shooting free throws to win a local neighborhood basketball tournament is not the same as Kobe trying to win the NBA trophy. It just aint the same.
