Perhaps it is all about location…my mom had her bathroom gutted and redone for about 3500. Included new fixtures (tub, toilet, sink), tiling, had a window added where there was none.
Snappy — There’s a beautiful shop in Beacon Hill in Boston that just sells door handles and drawer pulls. It’s basically an art gallery (with equivalent prices). They would definitely have what you want!!
you can get a toilet for 100 bux (used toilets are gross!), you can find sinks in a junkyard for free, you can opt for a vynil shower instead of a bathtub. nail down cheap plastic squares of plastic you can buy in chinatown (for a 8 x 8 foot bathroom) i bet those tiles will be like 100 bux tops, shower curtain at target 20 bux, toothbrush and toothpaste at the dollar store 2 bux. paint 30 bux.., you can steal a mirror from a starbucks bathroom, and new light fixture at some random new condo open house (just tell them you need to use the bathroom and be in there for a long time and pretend youre taking a dump so they dont immediately go back in and see the light fixture is missing), and with cheap mexican labor 100 bux. you can EASILY have a brand new bathroom renovation for less than 400 dollars.
i would opt for wall paper versus paint for the bathroom. so maybe 500 bux. here is my bathroom for you for less than 500 bux!
DIBS — I was only giving an example of a small renovation like changing the shower curtain and installing a new faucet on the sink. That would be around $4,500 right?
Was looking on Home Depot and Lowe’s websites for pretty glass cabinet pulls. Must be glass, must be pretty, only need one. Any ideas on local (Park Slope vicinity) places to find such an item and would be willing to sell me just one? Not victorian style glass pulls.

M4L, I believe in instant gratification. Refuse to do the shipping wait.
I guess I’ve been trusting their website too much to tell what’s in store. Guess I’ll go there anyway.
