Yes, a few weeks ago, I received an urgent plea from a friend who had been robbed at knife point in the park in front of his London hotel, so I used Western Union to wire funds to him ASAP.
Gotta go but I guess setting up a mosque at ground zero is one of those extreme points that gets everybody to fighting and missing the big picture. Its pushing the envelope no doubt to the detriment of the larger conversation, which is as MM says we are an open society. That is our “weakness” (in military terms–vulnerable to attack from within) but it is without question our greatest and invulnerable defense. We must be inclusive, welcoming, fair, or we lose that.
