“I have years of training AND years of experience.”
Hmmm what can I say without being accused of adhominem attacks…oh what the hell: Pity it didn’t take.
lech: “I prefer not to debate with people who can’t synthesize their own thoughts, so please start to do better”
Yeah, synthesizing without having any facts to back it up is SO much more preferable than citing scientific journals.
Ohh, poor lechacal, getting himself in a snit because we’re not bowing down to your supposed training and experience? Puh-lease. Show me the sources or clam up!! : P
It’s funny, I actually have many years of forestry and logging experience. I have been on the ground at a great many logging sites. I know good forestry and I know bad forestry. When I was a kid I used to collect water samples at logging sites for a University study on topsiol erosion at logging sites. I have studied forestry at one of the oldest University level forestry programs in the country. I really, really know what I’m talking about when it comes to this subject. I have years of training AND years of experience. And here I am arguing with a bunch of people who just read a few articles on wikipedia and whatever else they could get their hands on in the past two days. Have I read the “wired” article, cobble? No, I didn’t even know it existed, but I could probably write it. You certainly read it, and your contribution to this debate apparently consists of cutting and pasting from it.
Now that it’s apparent that I’m arguing against whatever comes up when you google “carbon sequestration wood” and not people who have any real education or background in the subject matter, I think I can be done with the discussion. cmu, cobble, DeadCatBounce – feel free to continue to look up snippets of understanding on the internet and continue to agree with each other about this.
where’s biff and etson?
here’s an article on methane produced by Canadian cattle
and how they’re trying to limit it.

Exactly the same way as you or I would not introduce ourselves as “Mr”…
Never give yourself a title.
“I want to meet a Brit who introduces himself as Lord Whittle or something”
None should ever do so. Even if he was ‘Lord’, he should use his own name when introducing himself.
You people can’t see the forest for the trees this week.

Most Brits aren’t especially strong monarchists but people do like not having a politician as the head of state.
Plus, you get the added benefit of when Phil the Greek opens his mouth!!!!!!!!
“stupid british monarchy nonsense”
Yes, one day I want to meet a Brit who introduces himself as Lord Whittle or something and say “Hi Bob,I’m cmu, we don’t do titles in America”
