I had wierd dream the other night. I was walking in some field and suddenly cossacks are chasing me on horseback and I run into woods and watch execution of czar nicolas and later on I end up in karaoke bar where this tall guy and sort guy are singing tunes from Fiddler on the Roof really off key and that woke me up. Musta been something I ate.

Good morning Pete. You need a vacation, sweetheart. 🙂

  3. Rob, you need to have a convo w/ the dad and tell him that his kids should not attempt to play with your dog. Explain that he may mistake their play attempts as aggression and respond accordingly. I’m sure he’ll get the picture.

  4. Good morning Mouthbreathers!

Nasdaq to Cancel U.S. Trades Moving More Than 60% Before Plunge

May 6 (Bloomberg) — Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. said it will cancel stock trades on all exchanges that were more than 60 percent above or below prices at 2:40 p.m. New York time, just as U.S. equities plummeted.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged almost 1,000 points before trimming its drop and ended down 347.80 points, or 3.2 percent, at 10,520.32. About $700 billion of U.S. stock- market value was wiped out in less than 10 minutes, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Nasdaq, which investigated trades between 2:40 p.m. and 3 p.m., said it will provide a list of stocks affected and the prices at which the trades will be canceled. The decision cannot be appealed. NYSE Euronext spokesman Rich Adamonis said earlier today “there were a number of erroneous trades.” Citigroup Inc. may have been the firm that made a potential erroneous trade, CNBC reported, citing “multiple sources.” The New York- based bank said it found “no evidence” of erroneous trades.

“Somebody hits the wrong button and everybody heads through the same door at the same time,” said David Goerz, who oversees $17 billion as chief investment officer at Highmark Capital Management in San Francisco. “It’s unfortunate. It clearly was a factor. When you have a lot of skepticism and nervousness in the marketplace, that just exacerbates the problem.”

Someday this war is gonna end..

  5. question.. maybe a bit of a weird question to ask.. anyway a while back there was an article in the village voice about chinatown residents and young college age kids invading old chinatown tenements, etc etc and the cultures clashing.. apparently chinese people feed their babies in the hallways? and use the hallways as extensions of their apartments? i ask this because the family across the hall from me in the lobby.. the mom is asian the dad is white, and they let the kids use the lobby as a roller rink… the noise doesnt bother me, they arent THAT loud and it’s not like they are skating in the middle of the night..

anyway, i had to walk my dog yesterday after work and one of the little girls (there three of them, two girls and a boy), the littles girl screams DOGGIE and comes lunging at my pitbull. i screamed at her DONT!, then one of the other ones on a bike starts coming toward my dog and the dad was standing in the doorway yapping on his cell phone and did nothing and didnt even say anything. wtf? it’s a public lobby hallway, not your damn playroom. it’s bad enough there are SIX giant strollers all locked up on all the railings and radiators (that really doesnt bother me as it’s a walk up building and who wants to carry a stroller up 5 flights), but eeeeks, you know, you see your kid running toward a pitbull flailing arms and screaming, you tell them to stop or physically stop them. am i right? granted i do not think my dog would ever bite a child, but i know that if someone is lunging at him he lunges back and that alone could cause injury, no? especially on a small child?
