BoerumHill, where in Michigan did you grow up?
Also, I saw your late post in the 166 Montague thread. I think things are selling that are well priced. 225 Pacific was well-priced. Even though it’s not my ideal location, the 3 bedrooms were very well-priced; I would have taken down the wall between the 3rd bedroom and the LR/DR because I don’t need more than 2 BRs, and I’d rather have a much larger living space. My broker tells me that when the second half of the apartments in the building go on sale they will priced higher (and my guess is won’t sell out nearly as quickly).
Rarely does the passing of a celebrity or someone famous give me more than a fleeting thought of what I remember about them.
But when I heard last night Ernie Harwell had finally succombed to a long illness, my mind was flooded with warm memories. I sat down in my home office and recalled what a joy it was growing up in Michigan and listening to his distinctive voice.
Then I cried.
On opening day every year for more than 50 years, Ernie would recite this passage from Song of Solomon:
For, lo, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of the singing of birds is come,
And the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.
I suspect this will resonate with few (if any) here, but if you ever heard him call a game, you know why today feels like a good friend is gone.
UGH! why is it that every single person who works at the strand book store is a major league A-hole!? is it like a prerequisite to be able to work there? jeez.

The Voice of the Turtle will be heard no more.

You saw his tools, M4L? Hmmphf! We saw his ensuite bathroom (apologies to rob).
Yes, sorry, it was “Equus.” Same thing, more or less.
I thought he showed off his broomstick in Equus?
I saw a pic of Daniel Radcliffe’s “broomstick” when he was in “Caligula.”
Epic toy fail: the vibrating Harry Potter broomstick.
