benson- so why is it class based? We’re a pretty wide ranging bunch in terms of economics and backgrounds. But we all have different takes on what we think is “tasteful” and anyone who had read this blog for years knows the reaction cuts across all class and racial/cultural lines. I am always surprised at some of the people who agree and disagree- and it always changes. there is no class warfare drums beating over here- and once again. It is Jon’s blog. He can run it however he wants- whereas you and I and everyone else can either take it or leave it. So if you feel you want to run a blog with your rules, you’re free to go set one up.
…I saw the movie “The Third Man” for the first time about 2 months ago at the Film Forum.
I was underwhelmed. Perhaps I was expecting too much. I agree that it is a great film, but, one of the greatest?
Perhaps I need to see it again.

You’re probably right. I watch it on TCM just about every time in comes on, and I’ve actually been indifferent to it at times. I still love it and think it’s a great film, but I no longer feel like it’s the best film I’ve ever seen.
I think it’s the type of film that has such an impact when you see it the FIRST time, it’s pretty compelling. Plus the combination of the wonderful music and the enigmatic ending creates something special. But, it has faded for me over time.
I suspect I’m inviting trouble from all quarters, but I didn’t have a chance to post in the Freaky Friday Greenwood Goth house thread. PERSONALLY, I just think it’s an ugly house (sorry bxgrl and Snappy). Period. Just my PERSONAL opinion as to the aesthetics of the house. That said, I also PERSONALLY see nothing class-based in the thread. My thinking the house is ugly has nothing to do with class; it has everything to do with my personal taste. Sometimes an ugly house is just an ugly house. [DUCKS FOR COVER]
I’m soon going to have a huge amount of power! My pasty whiteness combined with a gun and a surly goat (trained by Kensingtonian, of course) will be UNSTOPPABLE!
GRRRRRRRRR the ac is broken in the office today and it’s disgustingly humid like a rain forest in here
*rob*
Bxgrl;
We’ve all said our peace regarding that thread. Basta.
Lechacal, stop tossing me under the bus man!!!

You PLUSAs are a bunch of racists. And Snappy agrees with me 100%.
I’m afraid I just can’t be hanging out with you racists any more. I’m going to lunch.

Donatella, yes, in that sense we do all have power. The power I speak of is the power to deny rights, access to services, etc.
