I totally agree – but that’s not what I took from Benson’s arguement. He has, and always will have an issue with Mr. B putting someone’s private home up there for the sole purpose of being made fun of. HOTD/COTD are fair game bc it’s essentially free advertising for someone trying to sell their house.
The Greenwood thread wasn’t bad – very little snark – but some of the previous “horror show friday” features were disgusting – especially the ones in South Brooklyn that featured Mc Mansions (which quickly turnred into a thread making fun of italian americans)
And to treat someone like some sort of Judas because they disagree with Mr B is such a lame cop-out. Mr B is an intelligent man who has shown on more than one occasion he’s capable of throwing it down with Benson.
But Bxgirl, again to play devil’s advocate, his comments on Hasids were not over the top, personal and nasty in everyone’s eyes. Some yes, some no. And with the Goth house, some may have seen it as being directed at the owner for his choice in design/materials/etc. and not just the house. Again, some yes, some no.
Snappy- When I think he makes it personal – his comments on Hasids, before he removed it, were over the top nasty. The Greenwood thread was directed at the house, and referred to how it looked, and it was done in a humorous fashion. I didn’t then proceed to tell him how I think his blog should be run. The blog is about real estate, yet how many of you comment on the HOTD and COTD, knowing full well potential buyers might read the posts and cost the seller a sale? Comments on those can be brutal- but isn’t that why you read brownstoner? Because it is about real estate (and neighborhoods and fixing old houses.
Pete, I figured you for a Miracle Whip guy.
