In Scotland when I was a kid we got “the belt” – for mistakes on tests & for misbehaving. Each teacher had a strap – headmistress had one with thongs that really hurt.
Blowfish, I always tell myself never to read the comments on NYP or AOL stories for that matter. But I always start reading them and then throw up in my mouth a little. It’s sickening to know we live amongst such outwardly and unabashedly prejudiced folks.
Cobble- oh good! Glad What is with us- we need a munitions expert when we blast these puny humans off the dirt that is earth. We’ll warm the globe for ’em, all right!
Oh wait- we need a place for the cats. (Does Chet know?)
Denton, the restaurant served 7 (or maybe 8 brands) of beer. just that only 3 was via draft tap. my debate with buddy was if a restaurant was going draft route, it’s either minimum 4 or all-bottle route. 3 (& especially buddy’s 2) draft is too half-ass commitment. for bars, I say minimum 7 draft so I was already giving a reduction since it was a restaurant.
Buddy, you’re reading this so looking like it’s time to go bank to get me that crisp benjamin.
it is true that we don’t know the whole story behind the teacher fight. it is *possible* that the teacher had no choice but to defend herself.
but more importantly, OMG, do you read the comments below the article? What is wrong with the NY Post readers?! (no offense DH) That’s the real disturbing issue to emerge from the article.

lechacal,
how about a 2000 year old computer:

…and here we thought Apple was so special.
My grammar-room experience:
One nun + 50 rambunctious kids in class = generous use of ruler.
YAY! Thank you ENY…I needed a grin today 🙂
