no, i remember it well. (well vaguely well enough) my biological mother used to take me into the city between the ages of like 4 and 9 to buy drugs (or perhaps to do drugs). she once left me in an open fire hydrant with a bunch of strange poverty-stricken children somewhere in hells kitchen and disappeared for a few hours :-/ but she would always buy me rainbow chocolate cigarettes and that made me happy and kept my mouth shut about where we were. when i eventually told my grandmother this as an adult she said that she was going into the city for her methadone, but i dont really believe that since im sure she could have gone to a clinic in nj if she wanted to.
