  1. Jessi, if you’ve never been to New Orleans, make sure you wander thru the Garden District. Beautiful homes.
And go to a cemetery. But don’t go alone.
And make sure you go to Cafe du Monde (sp?) for beignets (sp?)

  2. quote:
I’ve decided that I’m going to wander about the UWS and other fancy neighborhoods telling Doormen that they are “lesser” people.

    UWS, a fancy neighborhood? does.not.compute.

    *rob*

  3. Yep, yep, yep……like Dave says, it was all the Democrats fault.

I remember Earth Day well. It was a truly crazy time in NY and elsewhere, my university was closed due to the admisistrations to avert further problems with strikes, “incidents” etc. connected to Anti-
Vietnam protests. That was a fun day though. Mayor Lindsay closed 5th Avenue, and it was a major event in the City. It was a crazy time — two weeks later, more chaos broke out post Kent state shootings. Police fired into a group of student protestors — 69 shots, 4 students killed and 13 wounded.

Funny thing I remember very clearly the clothes I wore:
Thrift-shop, dark green, wool tweed, peplum, fitted jacket from the 40s, black Danskin top, carpenter jeans fashionably fitted on the hips and pipestove shaped legs and high-heeled “clogs” (worn with socks). Long curly hair, parted in the middle. (looked like drapes, my father said….)

    Favorite songs:

    In the summertime
    Lola
    House of the Rising Sun
    Evil Ways
I want to take you higher
    Woodstock
The thrill is gone (I LOVED BB KING!!! – Still do)
    Call me
Signed sealed delivered I am yours
    Ain’t no mountain High enough

    By the way,
Raindrops keep falling on my head, shortly became the cult song of retro people who wore white patent leather go-go boots and hung out in dark cheater bars. (I did not participate).
