bxgrl, I just didn’t go to high school at all (other than half of ninth grade). That means I was unschooled for high school. If that doesn’t fit your model, then change your model.
lech- “Unschooling” as the article defines it (per rob’s post) is about not doing anything to insure your child has any kind of education. Your parents don’t fit that category and the fact you made it halfway through 9th grade hardly makes you unschooled. Doesn’t take away from what you accomplished but obviously your parents weren’t letting you run around in the woods a la Mowgli either.
“M4L: no true genius would ever become a partner at a law firm. I was also kidding!!”
OMG so true. Law firm partnership is an above average but completely non-genius group.
I’ve killed so many brain cells with booze at this point that I can no longer make any of the bold claims that I could when I was a kid, but here’s to remembering when. I guess I slowly traded brains for normality.
“Oh No! This story is HUGE NEWS in Williamsburg! Come to find out the whole neighborhood was in a uproar! You mean to tell me on of the best section of Williamsburg got vandalized and Brownstoner did not get a heads up???!!! Pull the other one!”
Probably not – I’m the only one from Williamsburg who really participates in this blog – and I sure as hell didn’t tip him off
Re: williamsburg stories – chain usually goes:
Freewilliamsburg blog –> NYShitty –> Gothamist –> Curbed –> Brownstoner (if at all)
nothing wrong with that – this blog doesn’t really cater to that set
“If you were constantly truant your parents sent you to school. Being rebellious and cutting school is not the same thing as being unschooled.”
No bxgrl, I was sent to school for a while but then it just stopped. No more school. I don’t have a high diploma. Don’t even have a GED. Made it halfway through 9th grade.

The What,
are you suggesting that Mr.B is consciously excluding stories that do not have the added benefit of a class warfare angle?

Jackal, college didn’t require a high school transcript with application? did you take SATs?
