    I would argue that CBGB’s was a huge cultural asset for New York City. As much as say Sun Studios in Memphis or The Apollo in Harlem.
    Varvatos is great to capture some of that, but the city or private resources should have stepped in and made it a real tourist attraction.

    The Ramones invented punk in a blast of genius there around 1975 and it influenced generations.
    They even influenced the Beatles, even though they disbanded in 1970
    but through some backward reverberation in musical soundwaves in physics not yet understood,
    the Beatles must have channeled that energy in recording Helter Skelter.
