yes, Montrose, that is the one. The poor woman terribly physically ill died by the end. Lived in family home alone but had no money to maintain – even some utilities were cut off.
Economics quite different from NYC….one of the guys got an appraisal after much of the work done – and agent said high $100k’s. He had done much of the work himself and worked 2 jobs to support it. So even people moving in were not affluent (relative to Brooklyn). But cost of maintaining these old homes is extremely high for people that can barely afford taxes and heat bills.
Sad to see the housing stock deteriorate like that. But am quite familiar as my hometown suffers from that (with no really presence yet to save the old homes).
