ExtText is correct. Been to Istanbul several times (with other journalists, including Americans), and there is no problem for non-Turkish women. On the contrary, it’s been my experience that they are quite friendly towards Americans overall. Indeed, Turkey is a secular country. It’s also fascinating – another good choice, albeit a longish flight.

Totally agree. Istanbul is very tourist friendly. Just don’t be a stupid tourist. But that can be said about being in any country….even Berlin.
