  1. Yesterday, I went to the supermarket. I put everything on the check out counter.
Cashier, probably in her early twenties, rolls an item toward her.
    “What’s this?”
    “um, a cantaloupe.”
    She punches in the numbers.

Kinda sad when people don’t know the different common fruits.

  2. I intended to use the trip to reflect on a number of things and try to come up with some answers to difficult questions, like what I want to do with the rest of my life. I had only one revelation, but it’s an important one, and that is the following: I am a great technician, but a mediocre leader.

  3. If used car dealerships show you a receipt, for what they paid for the car, are there any shennanigans going on there? I’ve had dealerships do this, and the prices they supposedly paid all seem inflated.

  4. “i have been nothing but polite, cordial, and sympathetic with you”

    First, that’s not completely true.

Second, It’s a beef with your attitude and some of your comments, Rob. You say things that elicit certain responses from me, and quoting yourself…

I shan’t longer bite my tongue!

  5. “last time I was in SF, I was astounded by the # of homeless.
Closer to downtown than the Castro.”

    Yes, right by City Hall!

It was fun during the Convention one year, they just scooped up all the homeless and dumped them in the East Bay or Santa Cruz. Golden Gate Park used to have little encampments hidden in the more foresty parts. I’m sure that’s worse now.
