And if you’ve never walked around the Upper Upper West side and Riverside Drive, you should. The architecture is niiii-iiice! Every building is distinct and more beautiful than the other.
when i lived on riverside drive my building was full of crackheads who liked to smoke their crack in the stairwells because they didnt wanna do it around their children :-/
their children used to purposefully melt red ices in the lobby to make it look like pools of blood. double :-/ :-/
my building was also directly across from a sewage treatment plant and on some days depending on the wind factor a cast of poo mist would settle all over the neighborhood. a ghost in the building pushed me UP the stairs in the lobby causing me to knock out my two front teeth. three shootings directly outside my bedroom window in the 5 month span i lived there. my dog was verbally gay bashed for squatting when he peed. i was called a f@g for picking up my dog’s poop. all of my roommates were mugged at least once (oddly i wasnt considering there were some nights id wander around the neighborhood in a stupor). blech. riverside drive my ass.
that said, there are some very amazing buildings on riverside drive. the decent buildings pretty much all went co-op or something. the rent stabalized buildings (the one i was in) had some very trashy tenants.

The Riverside House was featured on a segment of some Real Estate Show on TV. It’s a great house. If I remember correctly the asking price was a lot more than 25M at the time.
And it’s a fixer upper….but damn, it’s a beauty. They don’t have pics of the entry foyer, which was stunning.

Happy belated Birthday wishes, wasder!
Grocery is stellar, I haven’t been there in awhile, but it was wonderful.
Buttermilk Channel, Frankie’s, Boca Luppo, Jolie and Watty & Meg are my faves. None of which appear to be participating!
