M4L, if you’re here. The Open House is 4-5pm. I can’t go on Sunday + we want to go with a contractor friend so it’ll have to be during the week for me.
Think I’ll blogicide for the rest of the day and go do some reading. Yesterday I was reading through:
-a bio of Pol Pot
-Lies My Teacher Told Me, about American history textbooks
-The Onion: Embedded in America
Today it’s:
-“sticky” websites people have recommended me – Ted.com and Tomdispatch.com; blecch
-Men’s Health; the New Yorker
-Just Kids, Patti Smith’s memoir of her and Robert Mapplethorpe.
just like dibs said, there was a room full of finance types sitting 8 to a table yelling, laughing and talking loud. You could hardly hear the steak sizzle, but it was all part of the atmosphere I guess.
we started with a seafood platter with shrimp, chopped crab meat and lobster which I understood was excellent since I’m allergic to shellfish and couldn’t partake.
The maryland crabcake got raves as an appetizer.
One of my dinner companions opted for the lamb chop entree which she stated was super.
another dinner companion ordered the filet mignon which looked really good but didn’t get an up or down from the diner. although he ate it all up very quickly.
the waiter was very attentive and helpful, suggesting and preparing the previously mentioned shellfish platter.
seeing to some of the other guests who were late.
He suggested the Porterhouse dinner for 2-4. Said it was fantastic.
I opted for the Ribeye, medium-rare with German potatoes and sauteed spinach.
The steak was really excellent and grilled perfectly, the portion was something out of the Flintstones. I really enjoyed the spinach but the potatoes could have been cooked more.
I sampled the mushroom side which I highly recommend.
Not so much on the steak fries which were a bit dry.
overall;
food: 26
service: 25
decor: 20
price: everything is a la carte, but generally worth it.
better than Peter Lugar’s if you want to judge it by the “quintessential” steak.

I’m feeling a little stiff today.
What ever happened to the roasts scheduled for this week. I’m thinking of a few dirty limericks…

All in a day’s work.
CGar, if I get caught, you’re coming down with me!
M4L, you here?
I called the agent for the Bergen St house to set up an appt to see it again.
He said there’s an open house this Sunday.
Legion, more importantly, how many dried prunes should one eat a day to stay “regular”? Dulcolax is too hazardous to one’s health (and underwear).
I’ve never boasted pale in my life!
hi again,
lesbiman,
I was there last week for the “wine and dine”.
