I think some of problem with old SRO is need to prove that didn’t force out the old tenants.
Something called a Certificate of No Harassment.
And finding people who lived there is legal problem.
Of course this resulted from old days when lot of SROs in UWS – and people would buy them cheap and hire goons to get rid of the residents.
“Why don’t you go over and just strike up a conversation with her? Catch her off guard. Maybe she’ll get over it?”
A. Because I’m ascared of her. Remember those 2 kids who went off to play in the woods and ran into that old lady? Haven’t heard from little Hansel & Gretel yet, have we?
2. No. Yes, it would catch her off guard. Not likely.
“benson, Hollywood is all screwed too? Is there anything you like? (altho I’m inclined to agree)”
Denton;
May I kindly ask you to stfu? I express opinions both positive and negative here, like everyone else. I don’t need to justify my viewpoint on life to you.
Just fyi: last year I was effusive in my praise for “Slumdog Millionaire”, which deservedly won Best Picture.
also, you need to obtain a Certificate of Non-Harassment, where you have to basically have anyone who lived in there sign off that they left on their own volition, or something to that effect.
ET – Part of their problem was they stayed on the rolls as an SRO while they did work on the place. Inspectors would come & give them violations for not having handbasins on each floor & other SRO-mandated codes & then they’d get stop work orders. They were artists & restored the house utterly authentically – put up scaffolding & lay on their backs to paint ceilings, scavenged for historically accurate hinges, etc. It was a gorgeous job but so difficult w/ DOB. They moved out & sold a year after they finally got the c of o for one family.

I just got this from couchsurfing.com…
